Training and Development

Managing people professionally, fairly and competently can be challenging, especially through times of change, or when new to an aspect employment law or management.

Therefore, for existing and prospective clients alike, we offer a range of training and development options.

We are also happy to offer a range of practical and interactive public and bespoke training and development support options for existing and prospective clients. The main categories are set out below but again, we would be pleased to discuss other training and development needs with you, as they arise. Any public and bespoke courses, workshops or short term projects are priced competitively and at a fixed cost.

Recruitment and selection

We will ensure your managers are equipped to attract, advertise, select and hire new recruits into your organisation fairly and effectively. We will review best practice methods of selection including competency based interviewing, work based assessments and psychometric testing methods. We will also consider the implications for your organisation of any statutory developments (such as the Agency Workers Directive) and of discrimination legislation.

Absence management

We will enable your managers to identify, investigate and effectively manage short and long term absence issues and to understand and deal appropriately with any disability discrimination issues which may arise. We will also give your managers the opportunity to hone their skills by working through a number of real world situations with them.

Performance Appraisal

We will ensure your managers can encourage optimal performance of employees and the appropriate and fair management of any performance issues which emerge. We will also review performance appraisal documentation and disciplinary procedures.

Discipline and Grievance

We will review the key requirements of discipline and grievance procedures and enable your managers to carry out investigations, hearings and appeals competently and effectively. We will also give your managers the opportunity to hone their skills by working through real world situations with them.

Equality and diversity

We will equip your managers with a comprehensive understanding of the Equality Act, Equal Pay legislation and of wider diversity issues as they impact upon all areas of the employment relationship. We will also consider the requirement for Equality Schemes and the main elements these should contain and the methods available to manage any equality issues appropriately within the workplace.

Bullying and harassment

We will review the key requirements of bullying and harassment procedures and enable your managers to carry out informal or formal investigations and hearings competently and effectively. We will also provide your managers the opportunity to hone their skills by working through real world situations with them.

Redundancy handling

We will provide your managers with a practical understanding of redundancy legislation and give them the tools to carry out any necessary reductions in employee numbers sensitively and effectively.

TUPE, restructuring and change management

Change can be unsettling for employees and employers alike. We will alert your Managers to the legislative pitfalls attendant with any change programme and we will enable them to implement change and restructure effectively and sensitively.
